About Port Qasim Authority

PQA is the short term of Port Qasim Authority, known as Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, which is an industrial-cum-commercial port established after the Act of Parliament which was passed on 29 June 1973 and is operating under the concept of the landlord. It is the second port that is run by the Secretary of Maritime and is situated in Karachi, Pakistan. This port is based in the south-east of Karachi in the Indus Delta region. This port is considered as the eco-friendliest and is also geographically located along the trade route of the vast Arabian Sea. PQA normally caters to nearly 40% of the trade of the country done through the sea. Together with Karachi Port, PQA handles nearly 90% of the seaborne external trade. A lot of industries are located in this region along with Pakistan Steel Mills, KESC Bin Qasim Power Plant, and 80% of the automotive industry. It also gives the forefront to the two most major industrial areas of Pakistan Landhi and Korangi, which produces nearly 60% of Export products of this country.
