About Anti-Narcotics Force
Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) is a federal agency owned by the Government of Pakistan, responsible for controlling the smuggling and use of narcotics in Pakistan. The parent agency of this department is the Ministry of Narcotics Control and Pakistan Armed Forces. It was established on 21 February 1995 as a principal agency that looks after the illegal distribution of drugs in Pakistani Societies. Due to a misconception in the Act of ANF, it was considered that only a general of Armed Forces can be the head of this department but later it was cleared that any competent Person can be the DG of ANF. The current Director-General is a two-star Officer of the Pakistan Army named Major General Arif Malik. This organization is also responsible for pursuing and coordinating Pakistan’s narcotics investigations internationally. ANF principally combat the demand and supply reduction of any illicit narcotics drugs in Pakistan that come from the borders of Afghanistan.
